Project Overview

The Sculpture for the Southwest Oklahoma Library is called Borrowed Light and is a visual metaphor for the many journey?s of enlightenment a reader can take with a book. The written word is the “borrowed light of inspiration” that allows the reader to travel the across the universe.

The sculpture will be made from 8 sheets of industrial grade aluminum that are laser cut on a water-jet machine. I then weld the pieces together over an armature for stability and support. Then, colored lucite is riveted to the structure under the intricately patterned cutouts to to achieve a variety of radiant colors. A luminary device is placed in the interior space of the sculpture, and the piece is complete.
